School Lunch – Summer 2017

About School Lunches

Each meal costs £2.10 per child per day.  Please ensure your payment is with the office by Monday morning at the latest for that week.

Payment can be by cash or cheque, cheques should be made payable to Essex County Council.

Please put your payment in an envelope and clearly mark on the outside

  • Your child’s name
  • Exactly how much you have enclosed

You can pay more than one week at a time

If your child is absent due to illness, the money you have paid will be carried over

You will receive a computer generated letter and statement from us at the end of each week if you owe any money, this needs to be paid the following week

At the end of each half term, you will receive a letter if you are in credit.

Children in EYFS, Yr 1 and Yr 2 automatically qualify for Universal Free School Meals.  However, to continue receiving/qualify for FSM Yr 3 onwards, please follow the link below and complete the Essex CC Free School Meals Questionnaire/application.

In addition, if you think your child (in any school year) would be entitled to Pupil Premium Funding, which covers the cost of up to two in school clubs each term and up to ten pounds towards any class trip, also follow the link below and complete the Essex CC Free School Meals Questionnaire/application.

World Teachers’ Day – Themed lunch

We are inviting the staff of Great Leighs School to sit down and enjoy lunch with the children in the hall on our special themed lunch on Thursday 5th October 2017.


National Children’s Day

It was lovely to see so many children enjoying their school lunch today. Don’t forget that all children in Squirrel, Otter, Robin and Rabbit class are entitled to a free school lunch.

Some of you may be aware that school funding for Universal Free School Meals for KS1 and Foundation Stage pupils is based upon the number of children having school meals on Census Day.


Visit from Braintree Fire Brigade

A big ‘thank you’ to our School Council for inviting Braintree Fire Brigade to lunch on Thursday this week, and to Sam and her team for providing a great lunch with a fire brigade theme – the badge on the delicious cake dessert!
